Longway Tavern Opens in the French Quarter - Eater New Orleans

"Longway Tavern, the newest project from the team Robert LeBlanc and Liam Deegan (partners at Barrel Proof as well), opens tomorrow night at 4 p.m. in the French Quarter, according to Todd Price. Chef John Sinclair, a Coquette alum, has created a menu loosely based on tavern fare: Offerings include radishes with goat butter and caviar; grits and red-eye gravy; fries with pork belly, crème fraiche, and caviar; and a steak sandwich. Deegan’s cocktail menu features classics like the sazerac, sidecar, sour, and martini. The drinks menu also includes beer and wine. The building at 719 Toulouse was built in 1794, which makes it among the oldest buildings in New Orleans. It features a brick courtyard typical of French Quarter properties. It most recently housed Little Vic’s. According to the tavern’s Instagram page, the long sapele wood bar includes purse hooks and USB charging stations, making good on the owners’ aim to make it a comfortable “third place” that is not home or work." - Stephanie Carter
