"Pronounced "CHAH-jee", this popular Chinese milk-tea chain is slated to open a flagship on the top deck of the Westfield Century City Mall sometime in spring 2025, apparently taking over the former Sugar Factory space — meaning, instead of a quick-service stall, it could be building a sizeable indoor lounge where people can enjoy drinks and more on the premises. The incoming shop was first discovered by Westside blogger Toddrickallen, who spotted the branding at the mall in mid-November. Founded in Yunnan and now headquartered in Chengdu, the chain has over 5,000 locations in Asia, including in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, where it has a particularly strong presence and the most social media followers. Last month the chain was embroiled in a controversy regarding an alleged rigged giveaway for which it apologized on Instagram. Its branding resembles embroidered black-and-white Dior bags, with ornate drawings imposed next to its block-letter sans-serif logo; the shop serves hot and cold tea-based drinks along with boba options." - Matthew Kang
