"Located at 3000 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, this Amazon-owned grocery has been the focus of repeated confrontations with animal-rights group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE). The chain sued DxE alleging illegal trespassing ahead of a planned week-long occupation, and a judge granted a restraining order barring DxE members from entering the property. Activists have publicized investigations—most notably a 2015 video alleging poor treatment of chickens at an egg supplier—and staged disruptive demonstrations (including faux-blood coats, bringing video into stores, and interrupting public events), while the company says those actions block aisles and registers, interfere with business, and put customers and team members at risk.
