"I remember a tiny family greasy‑spoon diner in NDG that has been a beloved Sherbrooke Street haunt since it was founded in 1967. Run for decades by the Koulakis family, it became known for Nikos frying eggs, making hefty mish‑mash omelets, perfecting the hash brown and presiding over the flattop grill behind a counter of just eight stools; he greeted everyone with a smile and helped make the place famously welcoming. The enduring signature Creation Sandwich — stacked with a fried egg, bacon, salami, cheese, lettuce and tomato between toast — was invented there by Nikos and is still served today. The diner’s story and family legacy were even chronicled in the 2000 documentary Man of Grease; the Koulakis siblings ran the tiny restaurant until selling it in 2020 to David Minicucci after their father Tony’s death in 2013." - Valerie Silva
