"Located on Crescent Street in Downtown Montreal, this 3,500-square-foot Liuyishou Hotpot is an all-you-can-eat Chongqing-style hot pot from a widespread Chinese chain known for mouth-numbing, beef-tallow spicy broths flavored with Sichuan peppercorns and red chilis. The standard broth is fiery and theatrical — the spicy beef tallow is served in the shape of a cartoon cow figurine that melts into the pot — while other broth options include wild mushroom, white pepper chicken, and tomato. Broths simmer in tabletop pots for diners to dunk everything from pork brain, beef tripe, and frog legs to lotus root, quail eggs, and fish balls, and there are more than 20 ingredients and condiments to build your own dipping sauce or follow one of the provided recipes. Founded in Chongqing in 2000 and now with more than 1,000 locations worldwide (including Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver), this is the chain's first location in Quebec; it has been serving Montreal diners since March 23 and will hold a grand opening with a promotional discount on April 16 and 17. The restaurant is open daily from noon to 2:30 p.m. and from 4 to 10 p.m." - Valerie Silva
