"A new warehouse-chic, California-style pizza place opened up a block away from Petco Park in the East Village, just in time for Padres baseball season. Local chef Maxwell Senescall (who worked under iconic New York chefs and at Juniper & Ivy) slings classic pies like margherita and meat lover’s, as well as some imaginative signatures like a barbecue pizza with smoked tri-tip and Thai basil. There’s even a ricotta and spinach-stuffed calzone (playfully called Popeye) if you get tired of the pizza. The drinks menu features plenty of local brews and fun takes on classic cocktails, like a root beer-spiked Old Fashioned." - Helen I. Hwang
