"A multi-story nightclub at 1081 Post Street, Divas Nightclub has been throwing parties and serving as a safe space for the trans community for decades in a neighborhood that was once a thriving LGBTQ community; now it’s closing, with one last party scheduled for March 30. I was told the owner and building owner, Steve Berkey, “is looking to get out of the business” and declined to comment, and the building is listed for sale for $3.8 million with an optional $300k liquor license. The three full floors each include a full-service bar and restrooms, and the listing highlights a mirrored grand foyer. Manager Alexis Miranda said, “We will find another place in the city. I’m working on it,” and noted that until now Divas has been the only trans bar in California and one of three in the country." - Ellen Fort
