"Built as an all-ages venue, 1720 in Downtown has a small kitchen by design and historically served tacos, fries, and small sliders alongside drinks; I noticed the room has hosted acts from Pussy Riot to a private video shoot for the Jonas Brothers. Like many Southern California music venues, it’s been largely closed during the pandemic, but its kitchen now glows during dinner service because the owners pivoted to produce Umi Sushi there, allowing them to generate some income, bring back kitchen staff, and keep the physical space operational while live events remain suspended." - Farley Elliott
