"The halal carts of New York haven’t really made their way to the West Coast en masse yet, but at least Angelenos have New York Chicken & Gyro. This family-owned halal restaurant started in Canoga Park, before expanding to locations in Pasadena, Venice, and West LA. Since halal is often a street food, it can hold up to the rigors of takeout. Order the mix platter for chicken and lamb over rice and salad, topped with a tangy white sauce. The portions here are quite generous, but adding in an order of sauce-dunked wings is never a bad idea. Order on New York Chicken & Gyro’s website or through Uber Eats." - Rebecca Roland
