"Planned to open at 881 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester near the Franklin Park Zoo, this new restaurant has already secured a neighborhood-restricted full liquor license from the Boston Licensing Board and is awaiting ABCC approval. The 4,600-square-foot indoor space (plus a 400-square-foot seasonal patio) will seat up to 240 guests, with proposed hours of 6 a.m.–11 p.m. (patio until 10 p.m.), as the partners aim to be the premier sit-down spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Dorchester–Mattapan area. The menu will center on Southern-style barbecue smoked in-house while also offering chateaubriand, burgers, vegetarian and other modern American dishes as part of an “elegant” concept (the partners expect to remove the existing waterfall mural and ceramic lion). The team says it has recruited staff from a well-regarded nearby barbecue joint and plans neighborhood-focused touches such as after-church Sunday meals and discounts as it refines the menu based on local demand." - Terrence Doyle
