"If Aita is where you bring your parents, Locanda Vini e Olii is where you bring the person you’ve been dating for a while, when you want something a bit more wine-drenched and candlelit than an evening on your couch. The Northern Italian restaurant on Greene Ave. is in an old converted pharmacy, and the “Lewis Drug Store” sign that’s still printed on the facade of the building is inexplicably charming. Come here for a bowl of pici with sausage ragu and a cappelletti spritz, and if it’s summertime, stop by their gelato cart out front, Biddrina, and get a scoop of the cantaloupe if they have it. How romantic." - willa moore, bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, tiffany yannetta, neha talreja
"Locanda Vini e Olii is located in a former pharmacy and still has vintage exterior signs to prove it. The charming, low-key interiors make Locanda feel like a true neighborhood spot, special to the area but not necessarily known across the city (though it’s a reliable, much easier-to-get-into alternative to Saraghina Caffè in Fort Greene). Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, or simply looking for a nice dinner out, Locanda always delivers on its spritzes — made with saffron, rosemary, and other ingredients — and pappardelle with beef ragu." - Emma Orlow
"If you’re in the Clinton Hill or Fort Greene area, this is already your favorite local Italian spot. The restaurant is in a charming, date night-ready space that used to be a pharmacy, and the Northern Italian food is pretty great. There’s also an excellent and reasonably priced wine list, so load up on some Valpolicella along with the sformato, the ribollita (which is technically a soup, but isn’t really a soup), and some pastas." - willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja, bryan kim, carina finn koeppicus
"A Brooklyn Italian restaurant where host Mia Corbett urges diners to be vocal about allergies as soon as they sit down: making allergies known up front is important for safety and helps staff prevent risky mistakes during ordering and service." - ByLi Goldstein
"Michael Schall, a co-owner of Clinton Hill restaurant Locanda Vini e Olii." - Luke Fortney
