"Replacing a longtime Harvard Square cafe that closed after a change in building ownership, Bluestone Lane debuts its first Boston-area full-service café at 27 Brattle St. in the former Crema Cafe space, bringing an essence of Australia and New York swank. I note the menu is meant to evoke Australian cafe culture with items such as "avocado smash," lemon ricotta pancakes, sandwiches, salads, and coffee and tea beverages. Though inspired by Australia, the chain was born in New York in 2013, now operates 45 locations in seven cities, and has a second Boston grab-and-go planned at 125 High St. The split-level space seats 60 and was redesigned to resemble Melbourne and Sydney coastal cafe aesthetics, including mosaic tiles at the coffee bar, beach prints, and greenery. The Harvard location will operate seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to start, with plans to extend hours once it secures a liquor license; it opens Friday, November 8." - Dana Hatic
