"A counter-serve Indian spot and one of Seattle’s best bargains, Spice Waala offers wraps for under $10 and a fries-and-chutney item for an inflation-defying $3.50. It currently operates in Ballard and on Capitol Hill and is planning a Columbia City outpost as soon as early 2024 at 5020 Rainier Avenue (in the former Paris Bakery and Deli). Co‑founders Aakanksha Sinha and Uttam Mukherjee, who live in the neighborhood, said they were motivated by the lack of Indian options and hope to introduce Columbia City to a new type of Indian food. As with their other locations, the Columbia City spot will be primarily takeout with a walk-up window serving lunch and dinner and some outdoor seating." - Harry Cheadle
