"Reopened in the Latin Quarter at 2040 St-Denis, Turbo Haus has been given a new lease of life in the former Amarone space and even sports a statue of a robed, red-headed woman making a shaka sign out front. The same three owners — Sergio Da Silva, Michelle Ayoub and Dan Matheson — have moved it from its original Notre-Dame West home above Loic (it departed that historic bank building in November 2017) and I see they’ve positioned it as a casual hang for locals where you can listen to alternative music and catch heavier rock and metal shows without the griminess of DIY venues. The interior mixes old-school touches — stone walls, exposed brick and an old dome-style golden espresso machine left by previous tenants — with refreshed furnishings; the salle de spectacles is separated from the bar so you can drop by for a drink without buying a ticket. Drinks are kept cheap and cheerful (two pints for $10 during happy hour, mostly St-Ambroise), and at a later date they plan to offer snacky food like beef jerky and grilled cheeses; Turbo Haus is open daily from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m." - Tim Forster
