"After multiple failed food-hall attempts, the downtown building at 801 Magazine Street has a long, checkered history: originally the New Orleans Auction Galleries, it was renovated into a roughly 9,000-square-foot food hall in 2018, later hosted another food-hall concept, and then sat mostly closed amid operator departures. Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts has entered a lease-to-own agreement for the property and plans to convert it for a Boulevard American Bistro, removing food-hall stands but keeping the central marble-topped bar, arranging booths and tables around it, creating an open kitchen, and possibly turning the adjacent private event space into a retail market for grab-and-go food, wine, and spirits; Creole Cuisine’s CEO says the company never considered reopening the site as a food hall." - Clair Lorell
