"Reopened after a ten-month closure, this West Seattle Lebanese institution reopened on September 24 at 4717 42nd Avenue SW after being forced out of its previous location. The reimagined Phoenecia is serving a similar menu of its famous pizzas, entrees like the Jewel of the Ocean (a dish of many kinds of seafood over saffron rice), and desserts like baklava and rose ice cream, and it also has a full bar. The new space, inspired by a trip the owners Inaam, Nadia, and Sonya Khazaal took to Lebanon last year, features a luxe interior with emerald green walls, pops of copper, and elegant chandeliers. The Phoenecia opened in West Seattle Junction in 1975 with owner Hussein Khazaal, later moved to Alki Beach for 25 years, and after Hussein’s death in 2009 his wife Inaam and daughters took over; when the building was put up for sale late last year the restaurant was forced to relocate to a spot only 250 feet away from the first location. It is now open Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m." - Erin Russell
