"This airport concessions company reports an unprecedented drop in customer traffic and plans to permanently lay off 940 employees, saying the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated both travel and restaurant industries. It temporarily closed multiple dining outlets at the airport starting in March and warned that employees furloughed in March will convert to permanent layoffs on October 15 if not recalled. A majority of affected roles are fast-food attendants, followed by hosts, servers, baristas, bartenders, and managers/supervisors. The company also recently signed a seven-year, roughly $1.5 billion contract extension to open new and remodeled locations." - Susan Stapleton
