"At the Bayview Yacht Club, I learned that Jerome Adams was a longtime fixture who started there as a dishwasher in 1967 and, within a year, worked his way up to tending bar, eventually celebrating his 50th anniversary behind the bar in June 2017. It was there in 1968 that he reportedly invented the hummer — a blended shake made with white rum, Kahlua, vanilla ice cream, and ice — and the club confirmed his death on Facebook; friends and fans have since turned to the club’s Facebook page to express condolences and share fond memories." - Brenna Houck
