"Huntington Beach hasn’t seen this kind of restaurant anticipation in years; I can understand the excitement—founder Christoper Tompkins has turned his pop-up into a colorful seafood behemoth, and Broad Street Oyster Co. opens on the Huntington Beach Pier this weekend. The new space, in the historic location that was for years Ruby’s Diner, offers Oakley-sunglass levels of wraparound ocean views and is decked out in the company’s signature teal and light-yellow color scheme with retro striped awnings, glowing signage, funky cartoon characters, and quirky merchandise. Inside the dining room is purposely spare—mostly wood, glass, and nautical pieces—so the focus stays on Broad Street’s trays of shellfish, heaping lobster rolls, and surprising side items like burgers and hot dogs. Given the brand’s rapid growth since first opening in 2019 in Malibu and expansions to Santa Barbara and Grand Central Market (with a coming Ghirardelli Square spot in San Francisco), expect long lines of hungry beachgoers; it will be open for lunch through evening hours daily." - Farley Elliott
