"With New Yorkers rooting for its underdog team, I noticed Mario’s Meats and Gourmet Deli is selling a $15 “OMG” sandwich named for Jose Iglesias’s (Candelita’s) runaway hit song; the bread — a Mets-blue, confusingly called “Grimace bread” as a nod to the purple McDonald’s character turned lucky mascot — is split and layered with roast beef, Swiss, coleslaw, and Russian dressing. An employee says owner Joey DiGangi “made it up,” and though the Mets were down in the series at the time, the sandwich will remain available post-season on regular Italian bread." - Melissa McCart
