This Camp for Grownups Combines Cooking and Survival Skills

"Tucked into a wooded clearing near Finnebrogue Lough about 21 miles outside Belfast, this multiuse outdoor site functions as an event venue, bushcraft classroom, campsite and wood-fired cooking lab built largely from found materials. Visitors pass Scandinavian glamp-style tipis to a shelter and open-sided tent centered on a huge fire pit and multiple rigged grills and a pallet-wood smokehouse, where a resident chef prepares intensely seasonal, coals-smoked dishes — from oak- and coffee-smoked beef and charcoal crackers to sourdough, wild-herb butter and wild-foraged teas. Founded and run by a bushcraft expert who sleeps on-site with his dog, the program teaches fire-starting, foraging, primitive smoking, sourdough breadmaking, leathercraft, utensil-carving and kids’ survival skills, and offers wild camping and yearly fire-cooked feasts (including a Midsummer Night Feast) alongside weddings and hands-on experiences that emphasize communal, low-stress dining and deep seasonal connection." - Maggie Hennessy
