"Spending time in The Eighth Room, which took over the former Douglas Corner space, is like being plopped into an indie vinyl lounge in a London basement. Except instead of vinyl, it’s live rock bands and a room full of “new” Nashville types who have already reserved a table ahead of time. It’s funky, glitzy—there’s graffiti’d Roman busts, chandeliers, and plush jewel-colored loveseats—and very hush-hush, word of mouth. If you know about it, you’re either in with the band performing (or the owners) or have a friend who is. Like Flamingo, this is another spot that doesn’t mess around with the “dress to impress” policy." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
