"Far Out Pizza is a slice shop in the epicenter of Calle Ocho that makes pizza we thoroughly enjoy—but the best things here aren’t actually pizza. That honor goes to Far Out’s sandwiches, a handful of thick options that range from a saucy eggplant parm to the delicious (and lawyer-approved) riff on a Publix sub they call the “public sub.” All that—plus buttery buffalo wings, crispy mozzarella sticks, and good salads—are more than enough reason to walk into the retro space. Far Out also happens to be next door to (and run by the same team as) Union Beer Store, one of our favorite bars in Miami. So you can spend a Saturday night carrying pepperoni pizza and Italian subs back and forth between the two like a hardworking ant. Food Rundown photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Public Sub This is our favorite sandwich here. It comes with fried chicken, a house sauce, lettuce, tomato, and—yes—it is 1,000% better than that other version you can find at Florida’s favorite grocery store. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Italian Hoagie If meat is your favorite part of an Italian sub, you'll like this. They really don't wimp out on the ratios of mortadella, salami, and capicola. Or use so much dressing that it turns into a drippy mess when you take a bite, which we (and our shirts) appreciate. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc Chicken Wings These wings are fried to tender perfection. You can get them with ranch, but the house buffalo sauce is pretty incredible. It’s super buttery, and has enough heat to make your lips tingle for the next 20 minutes. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc White Hot Heat All the slices here are solid, so go with whichever one behind the plexiglass you feel the most pizza chemistry with. For us, that’s the white hot heat with garlic oil, globs of ricotta, jalapeño slices, and red pepper flakes. There's a small kick, but it's not stupidly spicy—and it goes great with a beer in case you're walking this over to Union." - Ryan Pfeffer
