"There’s fantastic ramen with some unexpected ingredients at this small Japanese restaurant. Go face-first into bowls of chewy noodles dressed in pesto and topped with two different kinds of scallops or hidden underneath a pool of coconut sauce. But our favorite is the Niku which is served with a sweet and spicy broth similar to a sukiyaki with a seemingly never-ending supply of tender thinly sliced beef and caramelized onions. Despite the gargantuan portions, we always try to save room for the equally as giant chicken karaage curry donburi and an order of kobe kushiyaki. Taniku’s daily Happy Hour is also worth cutting out of work early for, with solid $2.50 handrolls and $5 off all ramen and donburi." - julia chen 1, patrick wong, ricky rodriguez
