Sisi Kay Review - Wallingford - Seattle - The Infatuation

"You can accomplish a lot at Sisi Kay, a Wallingford Thai spot. You can revel in the blasting hip hop and R&B while eating lots of different curries, including a sweet and savory roast duck option that’s so packed with crackly skin that it could be the star of an ASMR Youtube video. Or you could come here for a date and split a ton of small plates, like som tum or the spicy yum pon fai noodle salad filled with crispy pork neck. While the dining room generally gets busy, you can still usually walk in and grab a table. While we might (will) frown if we hear that you don’t order the roasted duck curry, you’re still in good hands making a full meal from some of their other Thai staples—like pad see ewe, black pepper fried rice, and their mama pad with egg noodles and lots of vegetables. Food Rundown Yum Pon Fai This salad of ramen noodles and crispy pork neck is a great starter for the table if you’re looking to switch things up from your usual som tum. The whole thing has some mild heat and even though the pork gets tossed in the sauce, it hangs on to some of its crunch. Roasted Duck Curry An instant mood-reverser, this phenomenal tub of comfort involves an entire tender duck breast with crispy, crackling-like skin submerged in a coconut curry made with apple, lychee, and pineapple. It pairs perfectly over rice and should be the first curry you try here. photo credit: Nate Watters Black Pepper Fried Rice If you want a way to instantly upgrade your curry, ditch the steamed jasmine and instead spoon it over Sisi Kay’s black pepper fried rice. There’s a little kick from the peppercorns that’s cooled by fresh green onion and fried egg, with a great balance between toasted grains and sauce. By itself, it’s a standup side—but should optimally be used to soak up a coconut milk-based entree." - Team Infatuation
