"The display case of pastries at Flour & Branch has a gravitational pull. Fudgy, soft-baked cookies look swollen with molten Nutella cores. Breakfast danishes have flaky rims and maybe a reservoir of caramelized onions that taste like they belong in french onion soup. There's even a thick slab of stuffed french toast, coated in a brown sugar crumble and filled with cream, berries, and a hit of whisky to offset the sweetness. Whatever you get, take the staff’s offer to warm it up. video credit: Patrick Wong This SoMa bakery mostly operates via counter service, with one large table and a few two-tops where you can sit down. But Thursday to Saturday, they serve brunch with full table service. That's also when they serve excellent breakfast burritos layered with sausage or porchetta, potatoes, and eggs. Seats are first-come-first-serve. Just try to get here before 11am, or else you’ll risk having to wait. (If that happens, there's a huge shelf of knick-knacks and stationery for sale to keep you occupied.) photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong
