"NoMad Diner is a diner in the same way that a creative director in Carhartt work pants is licensed to operate a backhoe. And we're here for their gussied-up takes on classic Americana dishes in a mirror-accented space inside the Arlo NoMad Hotel lobby. The deviled eggs arrive bejeweled with trout roe on a dainty paper doily, the spaetzle mac and cheese can be upgraded with duck confit, and if you needed any more proof that this wasn’t your average mom-and-pop luncheonette, consider that a Diet Coke will run you $5 here—sorry, no free refills. Breakfast isn’t too exciting (this is a hotel restaurant, after all), but the cocktail menu is fun. Stop in after work for drinks with a friend, then split the disco fries and, most importantly, the Arlo Dog. The only thing more surreal than a $15 hot dog is a $15 hot dog we’d gladly order again. Food Rundown Drinks We especially like the parmesan-infused dirty martini called Mack The Knife, and the Green Door, a theoretically pistachio-flavored cocktail that in practice tastes so much like a key lime pie we wish we had a graham cracker chaser. photo credit: NoMad Diner Disco Fries The disco fries are more like contemporary-jazz fries, reimagined with gournay cheese and loaded with chives. Surprisingly crispy and—we can’t believe we’re saying this—light. photo credit: NoMad Diner Arlo Dog Served with an avalanche of crispy fried shallots, kimchi, and kewpie mayo on a buttery brioche bun, this pork hot dog is delicious. photo credit: NoMad Diner" - Molly Fitzpatrick
