"Amigo By Nai is a collaborative project from the team behind an LA taco place Carnitas El Momo and Nai Tapas on 2nd Avenue in the East Village. It’s somewhere you should check out if you have a particular affection towards pork and West Coast Mexican food. Like the original El Momo in Boyle Heights, LA, Amigo serves four different variations of carnitas tacos: maciza (tender, bone-in pork butt), buche (slightly chewy pork stomach), cueritos (thick, nearly-sparkling slivers of pork skin), and mixto (a combination of all three). Of the four, the combo taco is the best. Important: each taco comes with its own whole jalapeno nub, and you should crush it open so that all of the acidity and spice ooze onto your taco and probably your new, white shirt. Pork over fashion any day. Amigo is open every day for takeout and delivery, as well as outdoor dining. If you’re looking to try something in addition to the carnitas, get the oxtail birria taco that comes with thick, rich consommé. You may get the urge to pour it over your head like you’re a coach in a Gatorade commercial. photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Hannah Albertine
