"What it was: The Spanish spot in Miami. It opened in 2008 in the old Buena Vista post office building in the Design District. It was small and always packed. The menu was full of 2000s hits: bacon-wrapped dates, bone marrow, and fancy donuts for dessert. It closed in 2012. What it is now: A Coral Gables restaurant that still feels exciting. Gone are the bacon-wrapped dates and gourmet donuts (but diehard fans can still find their crispy artichokes). The restaurant, run by the same ownership, feels more grown-up (and fancier) now. Resurrecting a classic restaurant is a tricky thing. Tastes change and dishes go out of style.
