"Phlox Books is on charming, villagey Francis Road in Leyton. Its neighbours are other mood-boosting shops like delis, florists, and boujie hairdressers. We strongly suggest you start at the beginning of what is basically London’s best wellness street, and work your way through the lot, ending at this cafe-bookshop. Pop in any morning and you’ll find staff asking coffee-drinkers what they think of their book, while someone else sorts through paperbacks to take to the local primary school. If it sounds like the bookshop equivalent of a mug of hot chocolate, it’s because it is. There are a few tables outside and one big communal one inside.
