"King Neptune would probably feel a long way from the sea, swapping his trident for a wooden spork and prodding batter at this chippy off a roundabout in Edgware. There’s been a fish and chip shop in this spot since 1946, and old boys still totter in at lunch, choosing to steadfastly ignore the card machine and pay in cash instead. Bottles of vinegar are handed to regulars who lean over the counters and sauce their own chips before they’re wrapped. Mushy peas and curry sauce share the same texture, which is to say, it’s an average neighbourhood chip shop. The fish is pretty mushy and doesn’t taste of much, but it’s hard to be annoyed at someone who hands you a complimentary bottle of water with a smile and a wink." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, daisy meager
