"Harringay Ladder is London’s mangal mile and in Enfes Ocakbaşı it has a contender for its most expert griller of meats. Where some of Green Lanes’ other Turkish establishments have erred towards a shinier, more plush ambience, Enfes Ocakbaşı is pleasingly back-to-basics. The brightly lit canteen allows all the focus to be on the shimmering mound of adana, shish, liver, and chops in front of you—and each meat is superbly cooked. video credit: Jake Missing photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Within five minutes of sitting, your table will be adorned with a basket of warm flatbread, glistening with fat and chilli from the grill, as well as a cacik, ezme, grilled onion salad, and a green salad. It’s a spread that anyone would be delighted with, but stopping there would be a sin. Take the lead of the groups of friends and families around you and smell the wafts coming from the ocakbaşı—grilled quails, mounds of blushing lamb liver (a house speciality), and adana should all be on the agenda. Food Rundown Bread & Salads Every restaurant in London should take Enfes Ocakbaşı’s lead when it comes to complimentary bread and salad. The warm flatbread, stained red from chilli and fat from the grill, is reminiscent of FM Mangal. The trio of salads: cacik, ezme, and grilled onion are excellent. The latter, charred and smothered in pomegranate molasses, is excellent. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Mixed Kebab This single-person mixed plate comes with a skewer adana, lamb, and a lamb chop alongside plain rice and tomato couscous. The meat is impeccable, meltingly good stuff. Although the lamb chop could have been a little crispier. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Jake Missing
