Mayaflor’s brunch deserves attention - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"In a city where a great brunch usually requires constant reservation surveillance or sacrificing a morning to a sidewalk queue, Mayaflor is a rare find. This Mexican-American spot in Nob Hill rarely has a wait—even on weekends—but we’d happily get up early for this place if we had to. You can pick up the scent of cinnamon from the custard french toast even at the height of hay fever season, and the Mexican-style benedict gets extra crunch from airy sopes in place of english muffins. The calm, never-packed dining room has just a few two-tops, but on a nice day, grab a sidewalk table and enjoy your food while smugly watching the people across the street waiting in line for brunch at Mymy. Food Rundown Mexican Style Benedict We’re happy to lead the movement on making this the new traditional benedict. The eggs are wobbly and just about ready to pop, and the addition of crisp-edged carnitas and guacamole on an airy sope makes for an excellent combo. photo credit: Patrick Wong Challah Custard French Toast Each slice has a soft, almost pudding-like center, chewy crusts, and topped with peak-ripeness berries and apple slices. Get an order to share with the table. photo credit: Patrick Wong Breakfast Burrito Totally solid. It does nothing to set itself apart from other breakfast burritos in the city, but it’s filling and easily gets the job done." - Patrick Wong
