"Like a nice walk in the park or free cheese samples at the farmer’s market, we never say no to a trip to Palm City. The wine shop/bar/restaurant in the Sunset is “feel good” personified. Light floods the dining room, which is filled mostly with round wooden tables and looks like the kitchen of a minimalist who finds pleasure in colorful tile backsplashes. Shelves are stocked with bottles of natural wine and beer, and dogs are welcome to sunbathe next to the can of dog treats outside while you pick one. The fact that this spot serves hoagies that are arm-length and fabulous just adds to the “I want to stay here forever” energy—especially the delightfully messy and hefty Italian American hoagie with arugula and ‘nduja aioli spilling out. Also, one comfortably feeds two. On nice days, we like to photosynthesize at one of the sidewalk tables, the sesame roll sandwich in hand. photo credit: Brit Finnegan photo credit: Brit Finnegan photo credit: Brit Finnegan Food Rundown photo credit: Brit Finnegan Italian American Hoagie Mortadella is the star of this sandwich, and this sandwich is the star of Palm City’s menu. It’s the length of a mini baseball bat, and stuffed with a sh*t ton of meat, arugula, shaved onions, and parmesan. You will hear a chorus of angels sing after you take your first bite. BLT Hoagie Usually only on the menu during summer. When that time comes, do everything in your power to snap one up. The supersized chunks of tomato pair perfectly with the thick, salty bacon. Spicy Garlic Cheese Spread This spreadable appetizer is served with crispy crostinis. You’ll want this on all snack tables you encounter in the future. photo credit: Brit Finnegan Chopped Salad Amidst Palm City’s sandwich fanfare are the salads, and they rock. The chopped salad is a fantastic addition to any meal. It’s loaded with strawberries, marinated chickpeas, and cucumber. A jammy egg tops it off." - Julia Chen
