"Everything you need to know about Cockti is right there in the name. This is juicy fried chicken at its best. The menu at the East MLK food truck is small but mighty—nuggets, sandwiches, and bone-in pieces—but the sauces and seasonings are what set Cockti apart from your average Popeyes. Fried chicken sandwiches start with an ultra-crispy thigh (the easy winner in the breast-vs.-thigh debate), then get topped with things like chipotle, cinnamon, and agave, or Sichuan peppercorns, pickles, and creamy house sauce. And everything is available gluten-free, including masa buns that are equally satisfying. Food Rundown photo credit: Richard Casteel Nuggets These are made with thigh meat, so they’re juicy inside. If you’re worried about staying tidy, these are the easiest thing to eat on Cockti’s menu. Plus they’re incredibly satisfying. photo credit: Richard Casteel Fried Chicken Sandwich If you only get one thing here, it should be the classic fried chicken sandwich, preferably tossed in a chipotle cinnamon house rub and topped with agave nectar, spicy pickles, and chipotle ranch. It’s sweet, spicy, crispy, and a strong contender for Austin’s best fried chicken sandwich. photo credit: Richard Casteel Gluten-Free Chicken Sandwich Anything on the menu can be ordered gluten-free, including the sandwich, which comes on masa buns. We like the Sichuan chicken that's tossed in mouth-numbing peppercorns and topped with sweet and creamy “house sauce” to help balance out the heat. photo credit: Richard Casteel 3 Piece We tend to order the fried chicken sandwich or nuggets for their convenience, but when we want to test the limits of chicken crispiness, the classic bone-in pieces are a nice option, too." - Nicolai McCrary
