Laid-back brewpub featuring housemade beer and burgers, plus brunch, and a patio.
"During the week, Hold Out is one of our favorite spots to sit outside with a burger, some wings, and a beer—this Clarksville brewpub seems to do it all. Adding further to its list of food accomplishments is the weekend brunch menu. And while you can (and probably should) get a burger at brunch to share with the table, most of the menu is made up of creative takes on classic breakfast items that you’ll want to make a part of your order. Tacos arrive topped with a whole fried egg and tender carnitas, while pancakes get the Japanese soufflé treatment—puffed up to about a fluffy inch—before getting topped with fried chicken, maple-fresno chili butter, and maple syrup." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion, matthew jacobs
"The Clarksville-adjacent brewery offers up chicken wings that are brined, then fried and, made with either Buffalo sauce or a lemon pepper-garlic-cotija dry rub, then both served with both a miso-ranch dip and celery salad. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury
"The wings at Hold Out Brewing are brined and fried, then tossed in one of three seasonings—house buffalo, lemon pepper garlic cotija, or our favorite, the Thai PB&J. It’s basically a Thai-style satay wing with peanut sauce and chili jam—it’s spicy, a little sweet, and it’s one of the most unique combinations of flavors we’ve come across in our chicken wing research. Whatever you decide, you can get it with a side of miso ranch that adds a little savory punch to an already great dip. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"Hold Out's burger is made up of pretty simple ingredients—shredded lettuce, French’s mustard, american cheese—but the execution is what sets this apart from whatever burgers your friend is making on the grill in their backyard. Two super-thin patties (because you should be getting the double) manage to defy physics by being juicy and crispy at the same time, and a layer of comeback sauce adds a nice bit of tanginess. "Austin “Hold Out Brewing is a new brewery in Austin with juicy IPAs, the extremely popular Ol’ Gil Euro Pils, dry-hopped porters, and small-batch experimental brews that I am powerless to resist. But I keep coming back because of their food: the al pastor hot dog, cobb salad with miso ranch and a jammy egg, and the broccoli “CuBun” sandwich (it’s a Cubano with broccoli and a mojo verde). They also sell individual cans of their beer to go - kind of a rarity for a brewery - so you’ll find me juggling as many cans I can handle on the way out.” - Raphael Brion, Texas Editor" - team infatuation
