"We don't need to tell you that New York City has great New York-style pizza. But Detroit-style pizza is much harder to find. For that, try Nate's. The casual Carroll Gardens slice shop—with two other locations in Cobble Hill and Industry City—makes thick, heavy pies shimmering with red sauce and drizzles of olive oil, all encased in a blistered crust that tastes like the burnt edges of the very best grilled cheese. There’s a steady stream of takeout orders, and a tiny seating area crowded with neighborhood folk, especially on Tuesday when they sell $1 cheese slices from 5:30-6:30pm (or earlier, if they sell out). The Court Street shop is on the same block as F&F Pizzeria, but why choose? Having them both within a few feet of each other is a perfect excuse for a mini pizza crawl. Food Rundown Cheese For a crash course in Detroit-style, get the cheese slice. We wish every potato chip tasted like the burnt tips of its cheesy crust. Vodka The resounding favorite on our most recent visit. The ultra-creamy vodka sauce and that excellent crackly crust are a match made in pizza heaven. Supreme This one is about as over-the-top as you can get. It has not one, not two, but three types of meat—pepperoni, sausage, and thick-cut bacon. They’d be better off calling it the meat lover’s." - Willa Moore
