"Some people put up Christmas lights as soon as the Thanksgiving table has been cleared, and then there’s Rolf’s. This German restaurant in Gramercy is decked out with colorful lights, wreaths, ornaments, and dolls year-round. By the time they add a fresh dusting of cheer in December, it's basically St. Nick’s 7th circle of hell. You’re not necessarily in for the meal of a lifetime at Rolf’s, but it should be on your New York bucket list. Given that its jam-packed during the festive season though, you could just save it for Christmas in July. They only take reservations by phone, but you can also wait for a spot at the bar, or try your luck at lunch." - neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick
