"Every neighborhood could use more ćevapi. In the West Village, Balkan Streat is handling the situation. Inspired by family recipes and street food classics from Southeastern Europe, this counter-service spot also serves flaky stuffed pitas, a Balkan-style burger with a flapjack-sized patty, and puffy filled donuts that ooze like Gushers. Stop by for a quick, satisfying lunch that revolves around bread and grilled meat. The little space, which looks like a street vendor stall as imagined by Philip K. Dick, has a few tables up front, but you can also just take your food to go. Don’t leave without a slice of cheeseburger burek. photo credit: Max Flatow" - Bryan Kim
