"The original Duck And Waffle is by now a legendary London restaurant among 18-year olds, and it’s one that has earned its reputation thanks to three main draws: 1: It sits at the top of the Heron Building and has spectacular views over London 2: It’s open 24 hours. 3: Its namesake is a signature dish that, shockingly, didn’t exist anywhere else in London. Duck and Waffle Local in Piccadilly is its newer, younger, more chilled out sister, and here you’ll only find #3. While the food is totally solid and the space is nice, without the view or the novelty of being able to eat at 3.a.m, there are simply fewer reasons for anyone go there. But if you find yourself caught in Piccadilly without a plan and with a group of younglings in tow - you’ll have a perfectly decent time. The industrial interior is kept light and bright by the floor to ceiling windows and in the summer, there’s a good amount of outdoor space. As for the menu, it’s a pared down version of the original, and a lot of the dishes revolve around duck. The signature Duck and Waffle dish is actually good, but like the rest of the menu, expect a sh*t ton of sugar. Duck and Waffle Local is a blatant move to cash in the tourist trade that flows past Piccadilly, and while it’s a little disappointing that it’s not open 24 hours, this place could be a lot worse. As long as the quality of the dishes are kept high, and 18-year-old German tourists still exist in the world, it’ll do just fine. Food Rundown Duck Jam Doughnut This is a giant doughnut filled with duck instead of jam. It will gently rot your teeth while gently clogging your arteries at the same time. You should probably skip it for the sake of your health. Duck & Waffle This restaurant’s namesake, and a take on the classic American chicken and waffle. Every time we’ve had it, the duck has been cooked perfectly, and paired with the sweet waffle, it’ll give you a lot of pleasure. And a lot of calories. Charred Prawn Roll You’ll find this on the small ‘not duck’ section of the menu - it’s a prawn sandwich with mayo and a Thai vinaigrette. Still a bit on the sweet side, but that’s a running theme here. Grilled Broccoli If you need a break from carbs and sugar, they do have some green things here. The Full Elvis A waffle loaded with peanut butter, strawberry jam, Chantilly cream, vanilla ice cream, peanut brittle & berries. Send help." - Eileen Twum
