"When you want to sit somewhere for hours and bring your own bottle (or two) of wine, choose Mombar in Astoria. The service at this Egyptian restaurant is pretty slow, and that's because the chef-owner literally chops, cooks, and microwaves everything to order. He's the server too, rattling off the day's menu, and bringing over things like chunky hummus, pyramids of couscous, and homestyle tagine. You won't mind the wait though—the owner is also something of an artist, and the entire inside of this place is plastered with mosaics and random found objects, so there's plenty to look at and wonder about." - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick
