For food that goes well with a relaxing day, there’s Baskette - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Baskette is where you should head on a breezy Sunday morning when the grocery run is done, and the mountain of laundry blocking your door has finally been reduced to a manageable mole hill. It’s a laid-back Fremont counter where the smell of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls greets you and people are quietly doing the crossword with a cup of self-serve drip coffee. No matter when you come, there is always fun new stuff to discover. The chalkboard menu changes often. Treat it like a game of M*A*S*H: pick a baked good, grab a soup or salad, and get a sandwich (particularly the breakfast version). Lunch options are just as strong, with chicken pesto on plush focaccia and juicy braised lamb sandwiches that will require lots of napkins. While waiting on an order, check out the small market area full of picnic essentials like fancy crackers, tinned fish, and pickled things you never knew you needed. Food Rundown Breakfast Sandwich Baskette nails simplicity on a soft milk bun. It’s got a bubbly egg square, melty American cheese, and the unsung hero of breakfast meats—Canadian bacon. Hot sauce is a must. photo credit: Nate Watters Chia Seed Pudding A tangy burst of mango puree makes this pleasant dish more interesting and a nice little aside. Cinnamon Roll We imagine this is what the lovechild of a cinnamon roll and sticky bun would be. It's a bit denser and stickier than a traditional cinnamon roll, but divine nonetheless. photo credit: Nate Watters House Baked Focaccia Sandwich This little number puts any dry chicken breast sandwich to shame—it oozes mozzarella and has loads of spinachy pesto to keep it moist. photo credit: Nate Watters Brown Butter Rosemary Pecan Cookie Don't leave here without one of these for the road. It’s got the right balance of salty-sweet, plus a fragrant earthy kick from some rosemary caramel on top. photo credit: Nate Watters" - Kayla Sager-Riley
