"On a street saturated with Turkish spots, all with different variations of the word Antepliler, it can be easy to get confused. But here are a couple of tips to help you when you’re walking up Green Lanes in search of London’s best künefe. Firstly, look out for a huge glass window, where you can see trays of sparkling syrup-covered baklava. There’s all sorts of shapes and sizes, from green fingers, to golden pistachio-filled roll-ups. But the main thing to look out for is the made-to-order künefe. Watch as cheese is hidden between two layers of kataifi pastry, before it's cooked over the heat in a metal pan, leaving the pastry golden and the cheese perfectly melted. The sweetness from the sugar syrup pairs excellently with the saltiness of the cheese inside. Bring a big group and get comfy in the bright and welcoming top floor for a post-dinner dessert and a glass of strong Turkish chai. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat" - Rianne Shlebak
