Parsnip

Romanian restaurant · Glassell Park

"Slightly removed from the busy part of York Boulevard in Highland Park, Parsnip is a nice change from the “don’t look, another new restaurant just opened” section of the street. It’s a tiny spot, with an even tinier kitchen, and they serve solid Romanian food that’s definitely going to help you mix up your lunch routine. It’s an order at the counter setup, and if you haven’t had Romanian food before, they’ll help you figure out what to order. We like the vinete (eggplant) dip and the feta dill plachinta (an addictive stuffed flatbread), but we’re less into the potato dumplings (a little too dense) and the beef goulash (needed salt). Overall, Parnsip is a place worth checking out if you’re in the area and open to a lunch of dips and things." - Jess Basser Sanders
