"It’s almost impossible to hang out at Jim + James—a quirky and vaguely Southern bar in East Hollywood—for anything short of several hours. Every table comes with a deck of cards and stools at the bar face a tiny TV playing old VHS movies like Indiana Jones and Xanadu. There’s an extensive natural wine and craft beer list, but everybody’s drinking time-tested cocktails like sidecars, daiquiris, and best of all, a briny Gibson garnished with pickled sea beans. Come hungry, too. There’s an excellent snacks menu with down-home things like cornbread, pimento cheese with crackers, and peppery, shaggy-crusted fried chicken that you and your tablemate will be fighting over until the tin bowl is picked clean." - Brant Cox
