"South Austinisn’t exactly known forChinese food, which is why Bee Dumpling feels like such a welcome Sichuan-spiced oasis on William Cannon Drive. Dumplings are the main event here, obviously—boiled, fried, filled with soup, or swimming in shallow pools of chili oil—and there’s a full lineup of Sichuan classics if you want something less bite-sized. The thick dumpling skins aren’t the best in town, and the Chinese-American dishes are pretty salty, but Sichuan-style plates like mapo tofu and dry-sauteed string beans will scratch the tingly mala itch well enough. In a part of town where good Chinese is scarce, Bee is a small blessing worth seeking out." - Nicolai McCrary
