"Fact - the bacon, egg, and cheese is one of the most satisfying things you can put in your mouth. It's synonymous with happiness and usually reserved as a lifeline the morning after a long night of drinking. However, nobody puts baby in the corner. The BEC deserves to be celebrated, and not just at your dirty corner bodega. Did NYC need a specialty bacon, egg, and cheese focused Quick Eats restaurant? F*ck yes it did. Sure, BEC is kind of kitschy, but get over it. You're going to like it. Here's what you need to know about BEC. It's a small, order-at-the-counter situation, and not a sit down, table service restaurant. It gets a little crazy during prime time hours, but it's open early and all day, so just don't go at noon on Sunday and you'll be fine. There are, like, 12 different bacon egg and cheese options, which is way too many and a daunting task to read through. Get the BEC Classic and add avocado. That's the move, don't overthink it. We've tried a lot of these things, and the simpler they are, the better. Practical and delicious, that's what BEC is. It may not be as hip, cool, or x-rated as Eggslut in LA, but it does have excellent Instagram friendly floor patterns going for it, and judging by the flood of #EEEEEATS photos coming from this place, people are clearly taking advantage of it. The funny thing is: the best spot, with the best light, actually is in the corner. Food Rundown BEC Classic This BEC sandwich puts the one at the corner bodega to shame. Eggs wrapped up nice and tight, omelette style, are joined between the bun by smokey bacon and cheddar. The bacon and cheese crusted (!!) bun is the key. It's soft and absorbent enough to soak up all the goodness, but light and airy at the same time so it doesn't make you feel awful after it's gone. Add avocado, obviously. Mammouth Living up to its name, The Mammouth is really a dinner sandwich and not meant for breakfast or even lunch. This monster comes on a large ciabatta roll, which is way more to handle than their usual bacon and cheese bun, and is stacked high with eggs, smoked bacon, pork sausage, pepper jack, caramelized onions, pickled jalapeños, and tomato compote. Go big or go home. Farmhouse For those who like their breakfast sweet, this is the sandwich for you. Eggs, pancetta, creamy ricotta, spinach, and the double dip of sweetness - honey and fig jam. It's not light on the honey, either. This one comes on a soft and puffy pugliese, which is different from the other breads but equally as good. Roadhouse While the Original BEC is our go-to, the Roadhouse is the runner up, and it comes on the same puffy pugliese roll as the Farmhouse. Eggs, pork sausage, sharp cheddar, avocado, and the keys to victory - slaw with BBQ sauce. Pro tip - swap the sausage for pancetta, that's the move. The sausage is a bit much on a sandwich. Cobb Salad They have salads here too. The cobb salad is pretty loaded. We wouldn't come here to specifically eat a salad though." - Andrew Steinthal
