"Drive to the Northeast, head to the Rising Sun Plaza Shopping Center, walk inside Hong Kong Supermarket, and make a right at the stack of plums. Welcome—you’ve found Nam Veng. Although the menu is lengthy, it’s easy to hone in on a few things that the regulars depend on—roommates share a big plate of caramelized, sweetly glazed chicken skewers and families are laser focused on brothier soups, like the mi ga with egg noodles and chunks of chicken. With each spoonful, you’ll find a new flavor: a hint of ginger here, a pop of onion there, and fish sauce all around. Service is so-so, but you’re not here to be wined and dined. Enjoy the delicious, straightforward dishes, and grab a few melons on the way out." - Candis R. McLean
