"You might already know the Allday name—they make some of Austin’s best New York-style pizza, with trailers and takeout windows at Daydreamer and Flo’s Wine Bar, respectively. Now, it has a forever home in Hyde Park, where the same great pizza shares a menu with excellent sandwiches, expanded desserts, and a full bar. photo credit: Richard Casteel The MVP is, unsurprisingly, the pizza, available by the slice or pie. It's thin, crisp, and chewy in all the right ways. But skipping the sandwiches would be a mistake. Exclusive to this location, they feature bread with a shatteringly crisp crust yet an airy, almost weightless interior. The Goo-Mah, packed with mortadella, soppressata, and stracciatella, gives Home Slice serious competition for the best italian sub in town. photo credit: Richard Casteel photo credit: Richard Casteel photo credit: Richard Casteel Allday is located in the same building as First Light Books and Bureau De Poste, comprising the area we like to call “the old Hyde Park post office.” The space nods to its USPS roots with a postcard wall for notes and doodles, but it’s also sleek and modern, with a hint of Chipotle’s aesthetic had the Southwestern chain taken up a life of pizza instead of burrito bowls. This particular Allday brings food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere together under the same roof, making it the ideal one-stop shop for a great night in Hyde Park. Food Rundown photo credit: Richard Casteel Drinks The drink menu is simple and unfussy—just what you want from a neighborhood pizza shop. House wines run about $10 a glass, and cocktails are mostly riffs on classics. The standout is the Dirty G&T, a gin and tonic with vermouth, olive brine, and pickle juice that’s a perfect hybrid of a dirty martini and its namesake drink. photo credit: Richard Casteel Pizza Sampler Allday lets you cobble together a whole pizza out of six different slices, and they’ll all arrive on the same tray that winds up looking like a colorful wheel of cheese, carbs, and sauce. Plus, it comes with a couple of sides. It’s great if you’re with a group or if you just want to sample six different toppings over the course of however many days, hours, or minutes you choose. Our favorites are the Pep & Pepp, the Stracciatella, and the Vodka Baby. photo credit: Richard Casteel The Goo-Mah Allday’s take on an italian sub piles mortadella and soppressata onto a freshly baked sesame roll that’s light, fluffy, and perfectly crusty. It’s also a beast—consider a half-order if you're flying solo. photo credit: Richard Casteel Vodka Chicken Cutlet Sandwich The same great bread from the Goo-Mah, but stuffed with a crispy chicken cutlet, a thick layer of cheese, and excellent vodka sauce. This is a great sandwich. photo credit: Richard Casteel Caesar Salad A classic caesar with a few twists—miso in the dressing, lemon-pepper panko breadcrumbs, and fresh herbs throughout. Start your meal with this. photo credit: Richard Casteel Soft Serve There are a handful of desserts—including an excellent tiramisu—but we usually end up mixing the two gelato soft-serve flavors into a sweet-cream-and-pistachio swirl, and topping it with crushed pretzels and salted caramel. It’s sweet, crunchy, salty, and a satisfying note to end the meal on." - Nicolai McCrary
