Zona Rosa

"This two-story Mexican restaurant has a fun, half-covered rooftop, and it’s a convenient place to meet for margaritas right next to the Metropolitan G/L stop. Potted plants, colorful banners, and bartenders clad in red Hawaiian shirts keep the roof feeling festive, but it’s pretty small, so it never turns into a full-blown party. Think of this place when you actually want to hear your friends, sit in sunset lighting, and eat some tacos. They don’t have an official Happy Hour, but there are new discounted drink and food specials all the time. If you want something to eat in between margs, the tacos and mole are pretty decent. They also have an indoor dining room downstairs, with roomier tables, and a full Airstream trailer in the kitchen that sticks out onto their sidewalk patio. We have no idea why it's there, but it does look cool. photo credit: Zona Rosa photo credit: Zona Rosa photo credit: Alex Staniloff Food Rundown Margaritas They come in seven different flavors—including pineapple, tamarind, and mango—and any of them can be made with a jalapeño- or habanero-infused tequila. Most importantly, they’re very strong. Pescado al Pastor Taco We don’t see the fish and pineapple combo in taco shops around NYC that often, so this is our go-to taco order at Zona Rosa. Both the fish and pineapple are grilled and marinated in a mild salsa. Each order comes with three tacos, served on a cute two-level tower with three salsas. Enmoladas This mole is a bit one-note, but if you like a super sweet mole, this one’s for you." - Neha Talreja
